Must Be May!

My Name is Oliver Queen:  My Season 3 Finale Musings

As suspected we now know Arrow gang is all well and Oliver just let them get knocked out to keep up his ruse. They all had already been slyly inoculated against the alpha and omega bio weapon by Malcom Merlyn (John Barrowman) and he then says " I believe the words you're looking for here are Thank and You." I chuckled at that, it was a good bit of comic relief in a still tense situation. Team Arrow however points out how are they going to get out of dungeon. Que Barry/The Flash to the rescue, which we now know is what Oliver must have asked Barry for in the Flash crossover episode. The Flash then gets them out and reminds them that Ollie still needs them but then has to leave as he has his own finale to tend to.

Over to Oliver: we see him, Ra's and Nyssa on plane heading to Starling City to release bio weapon. Then he finally surprises Ra's by telling him he is not under his control basically etc. Oliver's first plan of destroying the alpha and omega and Ra's, also sacrificing himself, go awry when a pissed Ra's escapes plane with only parachute and bio weapon leaving Ollie and Nyssa to have to crash land plane.

Back at Palmer Industries, Oliver and Nyssa get back to their friends but Diggle is still pissed at Oliver's deception and punches him and calls him a son of a bitch. (Ugh this made me so sad.) Felicity is more forgiving obviously as all she could ever see is the good in Ollie.

Team Arrow has to put feelings aside though and figure out how to stop the Alpha and Omega from ruining their beloved city. Laurel briefly goes to see her father Quentin (Paul Blackthorne) who then snarks to her "Oh Oliver and the city are in trouble, must be May!" Lol. Meanwhile, Oliver and Ra's have one last sword fight which Oliver wins killing Ra's who then gives him his demons head ring. But not before Oliver is shot by Starling's cops (not fatally obviously). He falls off bridge but then Felicity (donning the Atom suit) catches him after she had begged Ray to do so. (But he had bigger problems in figuring out the nanites to safely diffuse the bio weapon situation.) Que my happy squeals.

Oliver then tells his loved ones that his time to be a hero can stop because the city is in good hands with the rest of them including Thea and he can be with Felicity as Oliver Queen. (Yay Olicity!)

Toward end of episode we also see Ray working on his Atom suit and Palmer Industries then explodes. What?! I'm not concerned though seeing as we will see him in DC Legends of Tomorrow. (Thank God, I'd rather finally see the shrinking Atom he is supposed to be, not Iron-Man lite.)

So finally, before Oliver heads out he talks to Merlyn and gives him the demons head ring, I kinda figured this was coming as they had obviously had some sort of previous arrangement. Back in Nada Parbat Merlyn breaks it to Nyssa that as he too had survived being tortured by Ra's sword he is now new Ra's due to prophecy. (Okay? I guess technically.) I hope the Arrow gang doesn't go back to being enemies with Merlyn though. ( I enjoy his snark too much.) Even though I was hoping somehow Nyssa would take over I'm just glad it didn't have to be Oliver.

My Bottom Line: Alright, though this finale didn't have near as much punch as the last two I'm still happy it wrapped with a happy Ollie and Felicity driving off into the sunset. I was also happy to see them set up for season 4, which was really the whole purpose it felt like seeing how they glossed over everything else. I'm super excited at the teasers we got as to Damien Darhk. Maybe even Diggle as the Green Lantern? One can hope. I will be glad to put this uneven at best season three behind me and look forward to season four. Along with the hope of no flashbacks of any kind next season!
